Kartalis Tree continues to grow and now embraces our entire village, keeping alive the history, the memories, the photographs, and the bonds that connect the people who built it, who grew up and lived there, who for some reason left it behind, and those who still live and create there today.

All members of this site, as well as fellow villagers, friends, and relatives, can now freely access the photographic treasures from the past of Nea Kessani by entering, from the homepage of Kartalistree.com, the menu “Nea Kessani” → “Photos”

where they will find various galleries on the following themes:

Cultural Association and Women’s Association

Families

Community, Church, School

Men and Women

Groups at Work and at Celebrations

Diagoras of Nea Kessani

These galleries already contain more than 270 photographs, generously offered to us by our fellow villagers, so that beautiful and precious memories from the past of Nea Kessani may be preserved through time, starting from the 1930s up to the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.

Thus, Kartalis Tree is evolving into a living space of memory, connection, and participation, dedicated to the history not only of one family, but of an entire village, Nea Kessani; a village born from the ashes of the Asia Minor Catastrophe by heroic Thracian refugees, which wrote its own unique history on this land.

The interest and participation of our fellow villagers in the effort to preserve the photographic past of the village is great, resulting in the galleries being constantly enriched, while videos will also be added soon. We invite you to take an active part and contribute your own material, stories, and photographs that deserve to be preserved and shared with future generations. You can send your material to the site’s email address: kartalistree@gmail.com.
